Led by team captain Sugar Magnolia’s four jams of 20-plus points, the Lafayette Brawlin’ Dolls used extended runs of 73-0 and 92-4 to cruise past the Southern Illinois Roller Girls (Rolling Blackouts), 214-71, in the 2013 season finale Saturday (Oct. 5) evening.

LBD finished its inaugural campaign at the new Brawl House with a team-best 6-1 record. The Brawlin’ Dolls opened and closed their season with wins against Southern Illinois. The lone loss of the best season in team history was June 29 against the Muncie Corn Fed Derby Dames.

Sugar Magnolia posted scoring totals of 20, 30, 25 and 28 points on single jams to be LBD’s top performer of the night while wearing the star. The 214 points represented the second-highest total of the season. The Brawlin’ Dolls won the first meeting with Southern Illinois, 190-133.

LBD’s The Liberator and Psycho Socializer along with SIRG’s Lethal Objection and Psychokid d Freakout were selected as the bout MVPs by the skaters after the match went final.

The Brawlin’ Dolls were stuck on 120 points for three consecutive jams as SIRG reeled off 23 unanswered points, making the score 120-67. But LBD regrouped and regained the momentum, finishing the bout on a 92-4 run. Sugar Magnolia again led the way with the highest-scoring jams during the offensive surge. The LBD captain posted 25- and 28-point power jams as her team sealed the victory. Arctic Wolfsbane also had a 14-point jam during that one-sided stretch.

Before the bout, the Brawlin’ Dolls recognized their referees as well as numerous volunteers and NSOs for helping to make their first season at the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds a resounding success. On fan appreciation night, LBD’s loyal followers were also invited onto the track after the bout to take a large group picture with both teams.
