While home is where the heart is, the Lafayette Brawlin’ Dolls are proving to be road warriors during the flat track roller derby team’s historic 2013 season.
By vanquishing the Black-n-Bluegrass Rollergirls 177 to 119 on July 20 in Florence, Ky., the Brawlin’ Dolls bolstered its record to 4-1. This is the first season the Dolls have earned more than three victories. It also guarantees the dolls to finish at .500 or better for the first time in the team’s history as only three bouts remain on the schedule. LBD is undefeated on the road with a 2-0 record.
After months of waiting, the Brawlin’ Dolls will finally skate at home once again when the team hosts Dire Skates from Richmond, Ind., at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Brawl House/Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds.
Some new skaters will make their home track debuts — freshies Bonecrusha and Arwyn Leavin’ Scars and Oregon transplant and derby vet Arctic Wolfsbane. Saturday’s bout after party is at Lenehan’s (6th & Main) in Downtown Lafayette.
Second-year skater Coquette Threat talks about her role with the team in this interview video.
